Probate and Estate Administration

Probate and estate administration take place after someone has died. The first part of the process, probate, refers to the legalities of having an executor or other person placed in charge of the estate. This process usually takes place through the Surrogate Court.

The second part of the process is estate administration, in which the assets of the person who died are managed. Parts of the process include gathering the assets, paying debts, filing tax returns, preparing accountings, and distributing assets to the heirs.

I assist families through the difficult process following the death of a loved one and through probate and the legal system for managing the estate. I like to help solve problems, to make sure that probate and administration take place as smoothly as possible, and to assist the executor in completing estate tasks efficiently and correctly.
